Tour Kit Management

Each tub comes complete with the below. These items should be stored in the Tour Kit tubs at all times. If bag tags have gone missing there is a tub of spares, please replace and put into your kit.

• Silky saw
• Bag tags 1 – 12 linked together in order (only take out the number that you need for your tour)
• Morning tea kit: carry case, teaspoons, coffee, tea, hot choc, 2 milk containers, flint, lighter
• Water bladders for morning tea- filled. 2L minimum
• Jetboil: attachments, plunger, boiling container, microfibre cloth.
• Gas canisters – if one has been partially used add a full one and carry through
• PLB
• Lollies in container
• Morning tea containers x 2 plus one spare
• Beverage folder + plastic sleeve
• Sporks (not currently used)

Coffee, tea, sugar, hot chocolate needs to be refilled at camp, these items are not stored at the shed.

If you are working consistently during the season, you’ll be issued with additional items (see below). You will keep these for the duration of the season or time you are working with us for.

These items aren’t returned at the end of the tour except for Guides who work ad-hoc, in this case you will collect gear for your tour and return at end of tour.

You are responsible for ensuring your kit is complete at time of issue and return. Any lost or damaged gear must be reported. All gear must be returned at the end of season and will be reissued the following season.

If gear is not returned it will be considered theft and appropriate measures will be taken.

Tea in Morning Tea Kits

• Keep herbal and black teas separately
• Early Grey & English Breakfast in one tub
• Peppermint in a separate tub

Thermos

• Must be completely dry inside and around lid when packed away otherwise they go mouldy
• Thermos must be complete with all components – spoon, plastic seal ring, lid
• Complete Thermos check on the day of use at camp and track down any missing components to ensure your kit is complete
• Guides are responsible for ensuring Thermos kits are complete and aren’t missing components
• Spoons and seals can fall into the bottom of the sterilisers, you must find all components

Counting Gear

• Know what you have taken out on tour e.g.: 10 x coffee containers, 10 x nut containers, 10 x complete Thermos etc., 2 x back packs
• Gear must be counted and packed into guide bags as you go or on the final afternoon

Neat & Tidy Shed

• The shed is a shared space that is frequently used, and it needs to be kept neat and tidy
• When your tour departs pack all items away before you lock the shed
  • Fruit / muesli bars back in the fridge – food left out will attract vermin!!
  • Unused bag tags back into your tub (ideally only get what you need in the first place)
  • Tub back on shelf
  • Poles hanging on hooks (not stored on the ground)
  • Back packs hanging on hooks
  • Mugs / water bottles washed, dried & put away

Large silver two door fridge

• Generally used to store lunches for tour

Single door fridge aka Guide Fridge

• Refill trail mix & lollies as you go – team effort
• Banana bread, muesli bars, Cookies for GF/Vegan in the fridge
• Freezer – where bliss balls are stored

Label & Date Milk

• There is masking tape next to the fridge with markers, when you open a milk label it with the date it was opened

Rubbish

• Put rubbish in the bin not next to the fridge or in the fridge

As a First Aid responder it is your responsibility to ensure you check your kit before and after every tour and re-stock accordingly.

If an item is out of stock at the end of the tour purchase on your own accord for your personal kit and submit an expense claim.

It is imperative that your kit is complete when you step on trail with guests. In the event of an incident and upon review this may be asked by authorities or a guest so you need to know you are prepared.

When you are issued with a kit, please open it and take out all components so you know exactly what is in each section, re-pack accordingly. If you think items should be added to your kit ask your manager for approval and then purchase.
