Family Adventures

Experience the 4-day Scenic Rim Trail as a family and make lifelong memories. This tour is perfect for active families with kids who are 12+ (or experienced hikers) who enjoy spending time in the outdoors and are eager to learn about nature.

Enjoy walking to a new camp each night and discovering the wonders of the world heritage listed Gondwana rainforest. Small groups of maximum 12 with two experienced guides leading the way.

Luggage Porterage

You can choose to carry all your gear for the duration of the tour or opt for luggage porterage where all you carry is your daypack and we transfer your luggage daily. Porterage is $400pp with a max bag weight of 12kg. You can choose to add on porterage for each person or just parents however bag weight limits will apply.

The recommendation is 12+ years however if you are an active family that hikes regularly, we may consider a younger age. Child pricing is 17 years and under at time of travel.

A family of three would have one room.

A family of four or five would require two rooms with one parent and one child staying in each room for safety considerations. Children are not permitted to stay in a room without a parent.

It is important all family members including kids have suitable gear:

• Day backpack for each person with waistbelt (let us know at time of booking if you don’t have one for all family members)
• Water bottles / bladder per person
• Suitable hiking or trail shoes (grip is essential so sandshoes / joggers are not suitable)
• A rain jacket (ponchos are not suitable)
• Light weight quick dry clothing
• Warm layers – fleece jumper & light weight down jacket (puffa jacket)

The 2-night Family Adventure offers an experience to connect as a family in a beautiful bush setting, ideal for families with children aged 6 – 12 years. Enjoy glamping style accommodation with maximum 16 guests.

Enjoy Spicers relaxed luxury style while connecting as a family and learning about the natural world around you. This is an active getaway with parents and kids enjoying all activities together facilitated by our expert guides.

The Family Adventure is recommended for children aged 6 to 12 years with teens up to 17yrs being more than welcome. We allow a maximum of 16 people.

• Self-drive to Spicers Canopy arriving at 10am
• Guided 3 hour bushwalk
• A packed lunch will be enjoyed on the trail

Day Two

• Enjoy watching the sunrise over the mountains
• Guided 3 hour bush walk
• Lunch enjoyed at camp
• Afternoon of relaxation and activities
• Enjoy a swim in the creek and/or Hot tub
• Dinner in the lodge

Day Three

• Relaxing morning with breakfast before departing at 10am

Please note Family Adventures are subject to minimum numbers to go ahead. In the event your chosen date does not reach minimum numbers we will contact you in advance to consider an alternative date and if not suitable a refund will be provided.

Spicers Canopy is located approximately 1hr 50mins from central Brisbane and the address is 1095 S Branch Rd, Tregony QLD 4370.

Aratula is your closest small town, which has petrol stations, a bakery and public bathrooms.

Spicers Canopy is located at the end of a dirt road so you will need a high-set vehicle to access. If you don’t have a suitable vehicle, please let us know and we can shuttle you up to camp.

Participation

Parents are expected to participate in and supervise their children in all activities including swimming. Our amazing guides are here to facilitate bush walks and activities however do not offer kids club services.

Reservation deposit & Payment Plan

Your adventure begins with a non-refundable $500 per tent deposit, which we lovingly refer to as your commitment to the journey. This deposit can be transferred to another departure date if you decide to change your plans, provided we receive your request in writing at least 61 days in advance. Please speak with our Reservations team regarding a flexible payment plan for your adventure.

Final payment

Final payment is due 31 days prior to your arrival.

Cancellations or changes

In the event you need to cancel your adventure for any reason within 30 days of your arrival, your booking remains 100% non-refundable.
