Autumn, with its cool breezes and gentle sunlight, is a season that invites reflection and relaxation. There is a unique sense of time in the air—a slower, more deliberate rhythm that enhances our daily lives.

Autumn offers a rare opportunity to step back, savor the changing seasons, and enjoy the luxury of time, particularly through activities like hiking where mindfulness comes to fruition. After the season of go, go, go give yourself permission to slow it all down and enjoy the shortening days and cooler weather.

With the Easter and ANZAC public holidays creating an autumnal 10-day break, you can make the most of your time by taking an extended holiday.

One of the greatest pleasures of the Spicers Scenic Rim Trail is the absence of crowds. With only 12 guests per tour, you’ll also experience the luxury of solitude, spending your days surrounded by just your hiking companions, within 30,000 hectares of forest.

Each season carries its own unique beat and beauty. As you sip a drink on the deck at Spicers Amphitheatre, the sunset unveils the forest’s transformation into a canvas of autumn colors, bathed in a golden light. Shades of red, orange, and brown weave through the landscape, bringing warmth to the surrounding evergreen foliage.

Unlike their northern hemisphere counterparts, Australia has very few native deciduous trees. However, one notable exception you’ll encounter on the Scenic Rim Trail is the Queensland Red Cedar. Renowned for its high-quality timber, the Red Cedar earned the nickname “red gold” from early European settlers. Now a protected species this beautiful tree sheds its leaves in autumn and regrows its distinctive red foliage in spring.
